PROJECT: A new brand and a new website
Any camper will tell you that the year is divided into two seasons – summer camp and the countdown to summer camp. The summer camp experience is “awesome, chill, where my real friends are, the best 360 off a wake ever…EVER”. And the summer camp experience for a parent of a camper comes down to tears of joy, pride and love. All these feelings and emotions needed to be captured in a new identity for Camp Hatikvah.
After eight years building its previous brand and web presence, Camp Hatikvah was ready for a revitalized visual identity and web solution to continue to grow its reputation as one of the finest camps for Jewish youth in Canada and to be able to reach out to children and families beyond Canada’s borders. There’s so much to share…and it’s time to show it off.
The resulting identity captures the authentic camp experience with rough textures and old-school treatments. Colours were chosen to bounce off the richness and saturation of the photography.
The web site unfolds as a “Gallery” of summer camp photography…all shot by Camp Hatikvah staff. Each year, the photos are changed to make sure every camper gets his or her picture up there, and to profile the array of activities in this beautiful setting.
The web site was developed by Rob Golbeck, handcoded.ca from the design shown above. Back end enhancements, such as a private mail system for kids to contact their parents and a full image gallery allowing parents to view and order pics from the summer, were executed as well.
Camp Hatikvah’s sweats line has been hugely popular and has sold out many times over. It’s simple and authentic, and can endure relentless fashion trends.
